About these credits
These credits identify data sources, not a promise of routing coverage or elevation availability. Sources vary by region. Provider names do not imply endorsement of StrideCircuit.
Maps and routing
Apple MapKit supplies the displayed map, search, geocoding and Look Around. Routing uses Valhalla and map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Optional community trails also use OpenStreetMap data.
Planned elevation
Route elevation, when available, is derived from Mapzen Terrain Tiles through AWS Open Data. Valhalla samples terrain grids; StrideCircuit downsamples the planned route and calculates its displayed profile and totals. These processed estimates are not survey measurements or a navigation-grade terrain model.
U.S. and global terrain sources
United States 3DEP and global GMTED2010 and SRTM elevation sources are credited to the U.S. Geological Survey. Global ETOPO1 relief is credited to NOAA / NESDIS / NCEI, U.S. Department of Commerce. These U.S. government source materials are not subject to copyright protection within the United States.
Regional terrain sources
The terrain collection also includes regional sources relevant to Alaska and border cells. ArcticDEM incorporates DigitalGlobe, Inc. imagery; development was supported by National Science Foundation awards 1043681, 1559691 and 1542736. Canadian terrain: Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Canada. Mexican terrain: Source: INEGI, Continental relief, 2016. Processing and limitations
Terrain providers did not produce or endorse StrideCircuit’s route sampling, profile or totals. Resampling, gaps and source age can affect accuracy. Missing elevation is shown as unavailable, not as zero. The credits do not assert that every listed source contributes to every route.
Time-zone boundaries
Time-zone boundaries prepared for the national routing expansion come from timezone-boundary-builder and OpenStreetMap contributors. The boundary data is licensed under ODbL; the builder software’s MIT license does not replace the data license. Preparing this dataset does not establish live national routing coverage.
